Our pupils apply geographical skills and knowledge. They are able to articulate -using their knowledge and correct vocabulary relating to a specific place, in Britain or the wider world, that they may have visited or wish to visit in the future. Our pupils develop effective presentation techniques, the ability to apply questioning skills to reach clear conclusions and explanations about their findings. We encourage our pupils to participate in discussions to enable them to offer well balanced opinions, rooted in very good knowledge and understanding about current issues in society and the environment.

  • A cycle of lessons for each subject, which carefully plans for progression and depth concentrating on the geographical skills suited to the age group;
  • A low stakes quiz which is tested regularly to support learners’ ability to block learning and increase space in the working memory;
  • Challenge questions for pupils to apply their learning in a philosophical/open manner;
  • Trips and visiting experts who will enhance the learning experience;
  • Appropriate curriculum themed home learning tasks which children complete with adults at home;

  • A celebration of learning for each term which demonstrates progression across the school;
  • Tracking of gains in each quiz;
  • Pupil discussions about their learning.
