Fawbert & Barnard's Primary School

Learning for Life

September 2020 Reception Admissions

We are pleased to be welcoming you to Fawbert & Barnard's in September either as a new or existing family.  We look forward to your child starting their educational journey with us.

We sent an e-mail to you on 20 April 2020 with our offer acceptance letter for acknowledgement.  If you have not received this, please check your junk e-mail box.  Further information will be posted to you on 22 May 2020, please see below.

There are several stages involved in making the admission process a successful transition in your child's life and we are sure you will agree how important it is to try to make this as smooth as possible.

When communicating with parents, we aim to be as paper-free as possible.  Therefore, please have a look around all areas of this website, in particular items on this class page and items on the school information tab above.

School uniform can be found on the "Information tab".  Please note that PE tops are in our House colours which you will be informed about upon admission.  We would advise that due to the school being closed you wait to purchase these items until we are re-open to ensure that still fit correctly.  No PE kit is required for at least the first term and you will be informed when this will become necessary.

Due to the school being closed to COVID-19, we will invite you and your child to attend our Teddy Bears Picnic and induction talk when we re-open.  Further information will be issued then.

Please click on this link which provides parents with activities, helping their babies, toddlers and pre-school children to build up the knowledge and skills they need for school.

Please see below some further useful information and attachments.

Our induction and admission timetable is as follows:

Nursery contact
(via telephone)

A member of our teaching team will contact all nurseries attended via a telephone call on 25 June 2020.  This gives staff the opportunity to discuss the children and assist our transition process.

Teddy Bears picnic and induction talk

Your child is invited to bring along a teddy bear.  They are also welcome to bring a picnic lunch, although biscuits, cupcakes and refreshments will be provided by the school.

You will be welcomed at the main gate by our prefects.

A member of staff will meet you in our main playground to escort you and your child to the classroom, where they will be introduced to their school buddy.  Once you have dropped your child off, please make your way to the hall for the induction talk.  This will be your only opportunity to hear the important information that will be shared regarding the aims and organisation of the school; the phased admission arrangements; ways you can help prepare your child for school and introduction to the classteacher.

After the meeting you will be invited to join your child in the EFYS setting.

Home Visits

(Via Zoom)

Our Reception team will arrange a zoom meeting with you and your child at home for 20 minutes to get to know you both a little better in your own surroundings. The meetings also provide an opportunity to share information, ask questions and discuss any concerns you may have.
We ask you to make every effort to be available at the agreed time.

TBC First session in school We have a phased admission period in September which helps the children to settle.  A timetable will be attached below when confirmed and will be discussed further at the induction meeting.
TBC Class Meeting Once all the children have settled in, there will be a meeting to discuss class routines and expectations in more detail.  All classes have a meeting like this at the beginning of each year.  Look out for details of the meeting on the Reception class page.
